    It's nice
With a bit of tweaking you could make it look like a retro Monte Carlo racer

I thought i read somewhere else that prices are hardening for these..

I wouldnt be a fan of anglias, but that could be a lot of fun.

But 3.5k buys a lot of fun

I saw one of those the other day and they are smalllllll !!

I've never owned a car that had a badge with a four letter word beginning with 'F'. I would like a good Mk1 Escort though

The Anglia is not a great car for having a crash in. The forward hinged bonnet had a history of coming in through the windscreen to meet the drivers head as if was flung forward with unpleasent results!

There are a few Fords coming up on the 30 year mark that I would like to own, the Escort RS1600i being one, but very hard to find now and getting to be big money. I almost bought one in the late 80's but couldn't afford the insurance.

Another iconic Ford almost at the 30 year mark is the original XR4i not many left that escaped the boy racers but if you can find one they are still sensible money, but the problem of course is that you will be creamed for road tax for the next year or two.

[Edit] There ya go! A nice original low mileage XR4i in Galway for €1900. If it is as clean as he says then it's considerably cheaper than going to the UK for one. If you have the patience you could put it in dry storage in the North until it's 30th. birthday and have yourself a very nice and practical classic for very tidy money.
