A judge in Ohio has come up with an unusual punishment for a dangerous driver.

Shena Hardin will have to hold up a sign saying "only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus" after she did just that.

Witnesses say she used to routinely drive on the pavement to avoid waiting for the school bus as it stopped to pick up and drop off children in Cleveland.

The incident was filmed by someone on the bus using a mobile phone.

Hardin will also lose her license for 30 days and pay a $250 fine.

Link to article and video of the Idiot in question.

She is fairly moving along on the path, definitely dangerous.

If they dealt out this kind of judgement here, some one could make a tonne of money producing quality high viz idiot signs.:pac:

She should have just used the jet pack to fly over the bus.

Well at least it's something, but unenforceable over here due to the amount of idiot drivers we have on our roads.

As stupid as that was, I think making her wear an 'I'm an idiot' sign is wrong. I feel she's an idiot but she shouldn't wear a sign for it.

I disagree....I think public shaming like this should be used more, in place of fines and ASBO like punishments

This is just a judge on an ego trip and the fine and ban he imposed are derisory for that kind of dangerous driving.

Besides, she is not necessarily an "idiot" (i.e. a person of low intelligence), but rather a selfish and inconsiderate person who puts her own convenience ahead of the safety of others.:(

Fines should be proportional to income and persons found guilty of dangerous driving should be suspended for a meaningful period, at least a year, and then required to do the driving test again. That is the way they do it in the Nordic countries, and a fine of several tens of thousands of euro in some cases is a lot more effective that making someone hold up a stupid sign for a while.

idiot has not been a term for intelectual disability for a long time, that was an ancient term that thankfuly was weeded out due to its de humanising malignant effects on those of us with intelectual disability.

idiot now means people who do something thought to be unfunny and silly and not a regular rational behavior of humanity, like exactly what this woman has done or perhaps the old behaviors of a individual who sort of rhymes with mindsay mohan.

hopefuly america will get a bloody move on and 'retard' will lose its intelectual connection to because its just as malignant, offensive and dehumanising to us as idiot/imbercile/invalid/thick/simple etc were-which is what most of us recognised as LD who went to school in the eighties and early nineties were called by teachers and singled out as a burden on humanity.

speaking of the judge it is a great idea, but they shoud also have tore up her licence or at least done something much tougher as regards her driving.

Ii wonder, could she get friends to gather round her with their own signs saying stuff like 'shes not an idiot' and other random wafflings...thus camouflaging the original sign within a confusion and so contravening the purpose of the original....thus taking the pss within the terms of the law.
