In a world of zombies, the human zombie would be the last thing id be scared of, lets say a rat is infected there by infected thousands of other rats, they would also be mad for flesh so wouldnt these small rodents be the biggest threat to mankind. They can travel anywhere, get in anywhere and are difficult to see and with them so small theyd be difficult to kill to the average person.

You should check out Brian Keene's Dead Sea for a book that has Zeds that are pretty much the traditional slow moving kind, but the zed virus can mutate to infect other species as well.

Wouldn't the zombie rats only be attracted to other rats though?

Part of what makes rats so successful is their agility, the other tool in their arsenal is that their teeth are constantly growing. If they're dead they lose these two abilities and could get trapped in their nests.

Worst case might just be blocked sewers. Which would lead to allot of dysentery in humans.

A 28 days later type infection in rat populations would be scary but short lived. The other things rats do well is breed. If they stop breeding their numbers would fall drastically. Again resulting in blocked sewers as rats can help keep sewers open by there movement through them.

There's very little that can make the rat more scary, it's a perfect animal as it is and already carry some very dangerous diseases naturally.

Why would they only be attracted to other rats. If the Zed virus could jump between species, then it would make more sense that the infected would then go after anything that was living rather than just go after the same species as itself.

Also you have to factor in the fact that rats live pretty much everywhere and not just in sewers, so even a slow moving zed rat would be a serious threat as it would be hard to spot due to it's size, and it would be able to fit through the smallest of gaps. So the safehouse that is keeping out hordes of human zeds now becomes less effective at preventing a virus carrier from entering.

If it went cross species, besides being out of food within 6 months we'd all be zombies from insect bites. Zombie Skeeters!

That would depend on what part of the brain the virus affects and how it drives it's host I guess.

If it crosses over to animals, you can be the test subject used to see if the zed animals will go after a person ;)

I already have a list of potential test subjects here, it's all the people I've given infractions to over the last year :D

it's not a very long list but it will be fun to see how long they last against zombie cats

Or... We could use a cat, if the rat chases the cat it would be clear every things gone arse about tit. So no need to use me as a test subject thank you very much. :pac:

Not really I have seen a rat chase a cat already and there was no zed rat involved.

I would be much happier to use your good self as my test subject.:pac:
