    @ eircom.
Are there any plans to improve the broadband in Rush?
I'm paying for 8mb NGR and all I get is 0.8Mb download and 0.6Mb upload on a good day.... Yeah I know catch.... up to 8Mb but come on 0.8
The area in Rush is Lambay View, St. Catherines and Clifflands.
    Thanks for any info.

    Hi markad1

I can understand this is quite frustrating but considering the distance of your address to the exchange i do not have much positive news. I can see James looked into increasing the speed profile a couple of weeks ago and i have looked into this again to discover we don’t have the option to increase the speed. Sorry for the bad news.

    Regards

    Al

I'm in that area and get 1.75 Mb/s down and 0.21 Mb/s up.

I'm currently with Vodafone - up to 3MB, but have just switched to Eircom.

I seriously hope my speed does not drop when Eircom takes over my broadband, as the sales rep told me it would either remain the same but probably increase

I get about 1.74 download with Eircom.
And I get the same excuse "your house is far from the exchange"
Where are the exchanges? the north bloody pole?

And yet I'm still paying the same as if I was with UPC

And before anyone from Eircom chimes in with a "PM me to discuss" I'm sick to my back teeth trying to get anything out of them.

Just gonna bide my time till the contact is up them I'm outta there

I think the closest to Rush is the one just before the train station.

New, local cabinets are on the way though next year I hear, so hopefully there'll be a better service for us.

    That's not good!

You (or Eircom) have probably tried this, but pick up the phone and get a dial tone.

Listen closely for any crackle on the line.
If you hear any noise, log a report.

Failing that, unplug everything that's connected to all of the phone sockets.

Turn off any wireless phones/consoles in the house.

Plug the modem directly into the master socket (no filters needed) and retest.

@ eircom...I have tested my line at the master socket with everything disconnected except the router.
I'm still getting the above speeds.
My neighbours are getting about 1.7Mb ish download.
Can you check my line again please.

    Hi Mark

I have forced though the 2MB profile on your line. Can you monitor it and get back to me to lower it if you are having any issues.

    Thanks, Mark

Because I have been able to hit 2.5 down on a few occasions (usually get about 1.8) can you check that I'm receiving the fastest download available to me as I have only recently switched to Eircom.

    Thanks.
