Should do I'm not 100% as I haven't used the latest version but remember the hype a while back that you didn't need any official hardware or some sort of jazz

I'm sure they have some sort of security implementations but stuff always gets cracked

Quick reminder - discussion of cracking or obtaining software illegally will result in a ban

Just one thing to check is that the Mbox you buy will be compatible with your operating system.
Some of the drivers for the older Mboxes will not work with newer versions of Windows such as Vista and 7.
Just something to look out for dude

I'd try and get Protools 9 which can be run without an mbox or any other digidesign hardware.

Which shop did you buy it in? Protools 9 has been out nearly 2 years now and 10 has already been released.

8 i think is the easiest latest one to get . I get a behringer f something interface . need an express card for it though . so whatever version is compatible with this I suppose .

I can tell you for certain that version 8 won't work with that Behringer.

8 comes in two forms LE and M Powered.

LE works only with Digidesign Mboxes and other Digidesign interfaces. Digidesign is now owned by Avid.

M Powered works with M-Audio interfaces.

So basically what I'm saying is only two brands of soundcards work with PT 8.

Are there any other programs like protools that I could try .

Reaper. Definitely Reaper. It's free to download and use for 30 whole days. I don't know if the licence ever runs out to be honest. But it costs 40 euro for a licence. It's very good, keeps getting better. They release new updates constantly and don't charge you for them.

It will run on that Behringer or any soundcard. I think Pro Tools is overrated anyway to be honest.

    Thanks for that man .

No problem. You can even customize it and make it look like Pro Tools if you want. There's skins you can get that redesign the look.
