Hello looking for some advice please,i currently have a 1.2m dish with 3 lnb's at 28/19/13 east all working great on a DM8000.
A mate is giving me his old 60cm solid dish, which iam going to set up into the spare diseqc port.Iam in Dublin by the sea so i should not have any line of site problems.
My question is which satellite would be good for the most channels and decent reception,at the moment iam thinking about 7E (DigiTurk) or 0.8W (Digi24),i know i can get the channels on these satellites with my clines.
Which one would you pick ? or what other sat would you suggest instead please?

I find 0.8w better for football, in fact I don't think I have ever watched a thing on 7e, although it does have the EPL channel.

I dont know how well a 60cm dish would work on 1w, some signals would be ok but i think the digi channels need a bigger dish as i remember them being hit and miss on my 1m dish.

7e would be easier to receive but probably needs an 80cm for stable reception, definitely more on 1w.

dont talk about lines on here as its against the rules...

Thanks for advice iam still thinking which one,if they look good i may buy a bigger dish but as this one was free i thought give it a bash.

Really depends what you want. 9E has some interesting channels. If you speak French try 5W. Turkish channels or at 42E, and Greek channels at 39E. All available with a 60cm dish.

60cm no good for either 1 west (some beams will be ok for a handful of channels) and def not 7east. 7 east is very weak. Now im futher west, but 7 east is still dodgy on a larger dish here (especially the dvbs-2 channels)

If I had to choose between 1w & 7e, 1w would very quickly be my answer.

    Far more content on there.

    2 20/20:
Having DM8000 and only looking for 4 LNBs.... it is strange. Why do not you connect 5 LNBs? If you do not will to get 1.1 protocol Diseqc with 6, 8, 10 or 16 inputs, than you still can use second internal sat-tuner.

Thanks RimaNTSS but i dont realy understand what you are saying.I was offered a free dish and as i have the spare port i thought i would stick it up and see what comes in.
But i was reading some of your comments and am very interested in where these brackets come from please https://us.v-cdn.net/6034073/uploads/attachments/214935/201181.JPG
Iam using a channel master 1.2m with a kit that allows extra lnbs to be attached put only three brackets come with the kit and i cant get any more.

    Hi 20/20!
I meant that if you change your existing Diseqc (I suspect it is with 4 inputs) to one with more than 4 inputs than you could connect more LNBs to your DM8000. DM8000 is great receiver and using it with only 3 of 4 LNBs connected to one tuner is waste of money.
Those brackets you have linked to I have got from friend of mine, he made them. As more easy and less expensive option I would suggest DIY brackets from out of shelf parts.

nice bracket. I need to do something with mine. I've 6 lnbs on my 1.1. Its not that sturdy. That bracket looks quite strong. Where was it purchased.

You can find all needed parts in any shop which sells different nuts&bolts and galvanized stuff for pipes. A mean ... any shop.

Just out of interest, are there any other satellites available from Europe other than 26E 28.2E that have english audio feeds with dramas, movies, series free to air and can be received in Dublin please on a five feet six inches long dish from the top down to the LNB arm so nearly two metres in size? :D:)

Na, not really - all the best FTA English audio stuff imo is on the sats you've stated already

If your dish is nearly 2m in size try 7 west. Some interesting reports from all over the UK with some frequencies now since a new bird was put up in that position.

Okay, thanks I will try that satellite by Sunday or Monday, I have to build a base to place the old oil barrel on top of first as the pole I was given is only five feet long. What are the interesting reports? Any English subtitles or audio on any of those frequencies? :)

If you are going to try 7 West line up on 8 West first. Kurdistan Parliament is very strong on 11100 H 2100.

I reported here before reception of 7 West but it is very much hit and miss.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=75129789

All I can get now on Eutelsat 7 West A is one tp 11430 V 27500. Just enough signal 4.6 db to scan in the channels but mostly breaking up or gone completely. Using 1.1 m dish with Black Ultra LNB and Dr D F15 receiver.

How the heck do I find Eutelsat 7 West A on the compass? It is around 181.4 degrees azimuth in Balbriggan according to Lyngsat, no 7 degrees West reading on my black plastic engineer directional compass. I downloaded earlier also a free android digital compass for the Samsung Galaxy S2 I own.
