I am currently in the process of completing my first jobbridge internship with a start up accountancy firm - my internship expires in Jan 2013. My host organisation wishes to extend my intern placement as there is a greater possibilty that there will be a paid job available for me within 6 months.

Has anybody had any experience with Jobbridge & getting a second placement or an extension to an existing placement.

Not a chance after 9 months. But they can call you back in 6 months when your needed. Because if your not needed what would you be doing for 6 more months with no work.

I honestly think your really the Host organisation wondering can you get more free labour not the actual intern.

Many thanks for your reply Donegal 11, however you could not be more wrong, I am genuinely the intern. One of the main reasons I want to extend my placement is to assist me in meeting my practical experience requirements for my professional accountancy qualification. I have got on very well with my host organisation, and feel they have been very supportive to me. They are by no means attempting to exploit me, they had taken on their last intern as staff and hoped to do the same with me but due to a bad year and cashflow issues it is taking longer than expected. They are fully supportive of me in searching for a paid position elsewhere which I will continue to do. As you may be aware, such positions are thin on the ground, and I have no desire to sit at home waiting for one to fall out of the sky. The company is small and attempting to grow in difficult times. It is my decision to stay, I am under no pressure. I am quite offended by your inaccurate conclusion that I am a host organisation masquerading as an intern. I genuinely wanted assistance and advice on my query. Not everyone is pretending to be something they are not. By the way, just for reference "your" and "you're" have different meanings and "you're" using them incorrectly.

If that's the way you want to go and you're confident of securing permanent employment, then have a word with the Jobbridge people...
