Will Zombie's be able to survive/travel under water? This topic is a source of much debate in my house as of late.

Yep, 'land of the dead' and 'survival of the dead' had zombies that could traverse underwater, they can't swim because they've much less buoyancy than a living person, but they can walk through and under water.

Zombies have lungs, but they are redundant.

Some awesome tips in the zombie survival guide by max brooks on how to deal with them too :)

    This has upset me now.
I had such great plans to make my way to one of the Aran Islands and live in fluffy happy wonder land.
    A pox.

they still can't climb cliffs or piers tho, so as long as you don't locate yourself too close to the beach you can establish an ews and avoid sneak attacks

It's likely zombies will end up in bits spending to much time in the ocean, Irish waters are fairly rough and getting dragged along rocky shores will disintegrate them fairly quick.

Of course this could make them pretty deadly if they're washed up on beaches with exposed sharp bones.

There's also the question of will they contaminate the fish?
    Will the nightmares ever end?

I'd be working under the assumption they're toxic to fish too. The oceans so big that any contamination won't be a huge issue.

wasnt there also the issue of floaters? i am sure that was in one of the books. the newly dead floated out to sea and washed up somewhere else. so even some remote pacific island is not invulnerable to it...

Bloating is caused by the bacteria in the stomach starting to break down the inside of the body causing gases to be released. If that doesn't happen you won't have bloaters. I don't know how gases in the blood and lungs would affect their ability to float.
