So last night on wheeler dearler mike was getting from a car that was in a crash and he took the alloys and tyres.

Would the tyres still be good to use after been crashed?

Depends on the crash. It's not normal practice to always replace all tyres when a crashed car is being repaired either.

If they're not damaged then I can't see why not

Some countries have laws where all 4 tyres are replaced after even fender benders.
I wouldnt fancy tyres off a damaged car tbh. It would depend on the accident obviously but surely there is a strong chance that at least one of the tyres might have have been subjected to unsuitable conditions, whether it be getting hit hard off a kerb or contacting bodywork of the other car or whatever.

Did they actually show the crashed car they came off? It is possible that they came off a water damaged car rather than a car damaged as a result of a crash.

Could you give example of such country?

Actually, the four didn't come from the car they showed on that programme imo.
The front rhs of it was fcuking mangled, so there's no way that wheel escaped unless it was in the boot and the temp spare was on when the crash happened.

I'd imagine they'd be ok unless impacted.

i think you are wrong...the headlight they got came from the mangled bit and was perfect, car looked like it had rolled rather than hit anything

Why wouldn't the tyres be fine ? What's the difference between the tyres off a crashed car vs your tyres if you are after braking hard / skidding, eg to avoid an accident ? Do you change your tyres any time that happens or if you hit a kerb ?

The obvious exception is if the accident has damaged the wheel or cut the tyre.

I'm all for safety but can't understand these secondhand parts / secondhand tyres debates. Isn't every part on your car right now, including the tyres, secondhand ?

I think I would rather tyres off a car that ploughed straight in to something rather than something that slid sideways violently before barrell-rolling. ;)

I have 3 alloys courtesy of a written off car, no problems at all. 4th wheel was bent and broke :(

Do you not notice a dragging sound when you drive the car around? :)
