One-off contract work and Jobseeker's Allowance

I am a part-time worker doing 2 days per week, and get supplementary JSA amounting to €72 a week on top of my weekly earnings. I am also an amateur musician/actor and do a fair bit of unpaid work in this department.

I have been offered a half-day of work doing some recording for a radio play for which I will be paid a nice -but not insane - sum of money. (I'm obviously absolutely chuffed about this!) There is a contract involved as the material may be used again but the work itself is a one-off, not to be repeated occurrence, as is the attached payment.

My question is this: does the social welfare department acknowledge contract work such as this if the recipient already has a job and cannot request or supply a P45/letter of cessation to the welfare office?

I am concerned that when I declare this income they will class me as self-employed and take my benefits off me. Although the money will be a nice bonus (a few hundred euro), it is certainly not enough to replace the weekly supplemental income, which I need. This is the first time I've had to deal with this issue. I am of the opinion that it is wise to know what you are/aren't entitled to when approaching the welfare department about a change in circumstances, so any advice or information on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Orlaithg
