I came across a sword at an estate sale and I have no idea if it is worth anything or not. The reason I picked it up is there is no tell tale made in China, or any other crap manufaturing mark on it, and itI wan cheap. The ony mark I can find is the number 203 stamped on the brass oval hilt. The habdle and the sheath are both twine wrapped in a very un elaborate way. The sheath itself is made of wood. The overall length is 37the inches, the blade being 27 of them. Can anyone help?

There usually won't be. Then they wouldn't fool anyone

    It was cheap.
    There you go.

If you say the blade looks crap, chances are it's fake.

The mass produced WW11 items were a bit rougher than one made by a craftsman, but still look better than yours.

It looks like a mass-produced decoration japanese katana sword.

This sort of thing would have been made to sit on a carved wooden rest on a desk or somethng like that.

A genuine katana is a million miles away in terms of quality and workmanship

Thanks, I did not loose anything on it. I picked it up from a elderly lady at an estate sale who said it was her husbands and she knew not where he had gotten it ,so I took a chance the lady was in her upper 80's so I figured for $10.00 it was worth a shot. It will go with my knife collection even if its fake.
