Hey, I got my summons about 2 weeks ago, sent the application off 10 days ago, and I haven't heard anything back.

should I not get a letter back confirming the appointment?

Nope. Just turn up at the appointed time.

They only reply where you are seeking to be excused.

On this subject, my job allows me to be excused, and my employer expects me to request that I am. However, if I am ever called, personally I would like to serve on a jury. Where would I stand if I was to serve and subsequently be disciplined? A hypothetical situation but one I could imagine arising and that has often crossed my mind.

what would one do, if they sent off the form, but didn't take note of the place or address?

    Then they are rather stupid.

anyone know what can be done, I know the date was the 27th Nov, and the place was somewhere in Dublin 8.
    what are the consequences?

Ring the courts of criminal justice and ask for whoever deals with juries. They should tell you.

I think a fine in the region of €635 is levied for non appearance.

You've probably been summonsed to serve on a jury in a criminal trial in either the Central Criminal Court or the Circuit Criminal Court so you may need to ring two separate offices to enquire which of them is expecting you to show up.

There is a remote possibility you've been summonsed to serve on a jury in a libel trial which would be the regular civil High Court, that's your final port of call if the other guys don't know anything about you.
