Odd " vibrato" when listening to Newstalk from Astra 2

My only method of getting a reliable reception for Newstalk is over satellite. For over a week now there is a an odd vibrato effect on the voices. Odd too that it seems to effect the live voice, but not the pre-recorded adds or people being interviewed over the phone.

Apart from mi ol' Sky box I've also tuned it in over an FTA box and both have the vibrato.

Have emailed Newstalk, and left 2 message, but no reply or call back yet

Same on FM reception at the moment ? Was like this 6-9 months ago then stopped - anyone know what causes this ?

Heard it last night on Astra 2. Very annoying. Can't say I've noticed it on FM though

Heard it last night too while listening to the U.S. election coverage. Makes people's voices sound like they're just about to cry.

They disappeared from FM for a good 10 mins the other day during Seans show. Some sort of major equipment failure perhaps?

Used to happen a lot on FM. Noticed it came back the other day for a while then disappeared again - not a satellite problem, a Newstalk problem.

Maybe they were just about to cry.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

My FM reception varies from non-existent to feint and scratchy.

Do people agree that it seems to effect "live presenters" and not pre-recorded adds or "interviewees on the phone" ?

A good while back, maybe 2 years ago I emailed Newstalk about the quality of their online transmission, got a polite and grateful reply quite quickly and it did get better ( not claiming any credit for that) , even though now I haven't listened to it while abroad in quite a while.

Now thee don't answer the phone, don't ring back after leaving my number and don't acknowledge emails.

I like "the right hook" and a bit of "off the ball"

Broken altogether now. Have noticed skipping, poor FM interference/noise, and poor encoding in the past (frequently).
