So I'm in work but honestly don't feel like working, don't usually feel like this and I've so much to do literally don't know where to start but feel rather calm about it all.

He had an easy job after McCain fixed that whole recession business.

    No, I don't feel complacent.

I do, however, feel a tad rascally.

Rascally is now my word of the day, maybe even word of the week

You're likely calm because you've put up a mental block. When the reality hits that you've actually done sweet FA and the pile is getting bigger, that calmness will turn to stress and it ain't worth it.

Break what you have to do down into tiny little pieces and just start it. Decide what the most important things are, then out of those, decide what's the most urgent and start with that.

Sounds like you don't like your job. Life is too short, I'd recommend you quit.

How did you arrive at that statistic? More dossing? :)

45% is a lot of time to not love your job.

No I compiled a formulated spreadsheet and rated my happiness at different points of the day, I then correlated this with my mean (average) state of well being and the result was 55%

How would you feel if your boss said I don't feel like working and doing out the payroll? ;)

You have become enlightened as regards the importance of what you do in the greater scheme of things - a bit of workplace zen. Well done.

My boss employs someone to do that so it'll never happen

Yes the "pile is getting bigger" for he's over halfway through assembling a vast but intricate scale model of a shopping centre in Adamstown, and you're recommending that he breaks what he has "down into tiny little pieces".
    That's hardly the best advice.
