A friend of the family is looking to get old 20 year alluminium windows taken out and replaced with upvc double glazed windows and also get a new upvc door fitted.

Mid terraced house in North Dublin with standard sized front door,2 standard 5.5 feet wide windows (sitting room and front bedroom upstairs)

Also 2 smaller 4 feet wide windows (bathroom and single bedroom) at back of house.

What sort of price would the Upvc door and the 4 double glazed windows be??

Nothing madly priced here now,as she is on a tight budget, from speaking to her earlier this morning.

    Thanks.:)

I replaced window in a house i rent out last November.
    cost me 2.4K for
2 front windows (double bedroom & living room),
1 Small bathroom (abour 18 inches by 3ft frosted),
    1 rear double bedroom,
    1 rear kitchen (double size)
1 small tv room where door was.

so thats roughly 4 doubles and 2 narrow singles (one frosted)
    door are about 1,200.

house is in ballyfermont, standard double glazed white PVC.
price includes fitting PVC sills inside and removing existing wooden windows at rear and aluminum to front

If I were in his/her shoes I would look for a price from asgard in ballyfermot. They were cheapest when I did something similar in 08 and product and fitting were good. No affiliation.

well the quotes so far range from 3500 up to 4500 for 1 Upvc door,2 average sized front windows and 2 smaller back windows.

I really thought it would be cheaper than that???

    Right so.

Family friend has just got a quote of 2500 euro for 4 x A rated top over side double glazed windows and a Palladio Palermo Composite door in red with TG23 tripple glazed glass.

Supply and fit, replastering work, removal of all waste and old windows and door.
Thats from an established window company in Drogheda

Also a quote of 2300 euro for the exact same spec above, from a chap who works for himself here in Dublin.
Again supply and fit and all waste and old windows/door removed.

What to do and who to go with??????

I can get great doors from Lithuania if anyone is interested in grouping together to buy a couple, that way we can get them delivered at a better price. They are available in double and triple glazing, I am not sure if i can post photos here?
