Job/Money/Survival short-term

Finding myself in a predicament right now. And before it gets disastrous I need to decide what the hell to do.

I moved up north to get work as the part-time work I had in the south was just pitiful hours wise- good hourly rate but hours were just minimal- sometimes 5 hours in the week. I tried to get another job but just had no luck at all.
So I moved up north and I found a job after a few weeks but again it's part-time, well, at least this time it's 24 hours a week.

It's over the minimum wage rate but it's not enough to pay rent, car, etc. and I'm earning much less than I would be if I was on dole, getting rent allowance, etc. in the south. I have been trying to get a second part-time job here but what do you know I can't find anything.

My first pay day is mid/late november but I will only get one week's pay then. I will have to wait until the end of December to get my first proper pay packet- for 4 weeks of 24 hours per week.

I don't know how I can survive until then. I would be better off if I went down south again and signed on but I am really reluctant to do that.

I already have some credit card debt and I'm not long in this job so can't expect to get a loan.

What's my best option? I'm fast running out of cash and cannot run on one week's wages from late november to christmas.

That's a tough one. Do you have any skills you could sell on an "ad-hoc" basis? Could you put up flyers in local shops offering some service or other for cash in hand work?

I'm not sure. I won't say what I used to do for a career but it's not in demand now at all. I have typing skills, etc. but so do a lot of people and I'm not sure how in demand that would be. I have been applying to loads and loads of jobs and just not getting a second one. The first one was hard enough to come by and I had hoped to get one full-time to go with this part-time one as my aim was to earn as much as possible in the next year to go towards going back to college. I'm reluctant to leave it but if I can't get a second job it seems crazy to stay on and be worse off than if I was on the dole. Being in a job is the ideal but not if it's losing me money.

If I don't get a second job in next 2 weeks or even one full-time job then I'll just have to come back down south I reckon. The job I'm in now isn't a great one career wise so it wouldn't be much of a loss to me in the larger scheme of things.

I can't see any other way really. So completely frustrating.
