    Hi,

Something I noticed here the other day. When you come off the slip that runs parallel to the M50 for a couple of kilometers you come into the left lane of the Drummartin Link Road. But has anybody noticed the really odd road markings between the left lane and the two right lanes there? It's two continuous lines with diagonal lines between them all the way to the lights.

To me that would indicate that you're not meant to cross these. Is that correct? How else would you proceed to go right towards the Beacon there? Must be some really off-the-ball road planners that designed it or else I'm missing something.... It was only re-done like that recently. It used to be a normal broken line.

Yeah they changed the markings alright.

If you are going towards Sandyford you are supposed to go all the way to the roundabout and take a left.

The slip road only lets you go straight towards Clonskeagh.

    Got beaten to it

Its an absolute disaster. Some people seem to disregard the new lane markings and treat it as it was previously.

If you are in the very right lane going over the M50 there is a good chance the car in the lane to the left of you is going to drive straight into your left hand side.

The new markings are ridiculous anyway it was fine the way it was.

EDIT, i thought you were referring to the new markings on the roundabout.

I think the idea is fine but they should have made a bit more of an effort with the signs. It took me by surprise when they changed it for first time, now its obviously ok, which brings me to another issue and that is that since then, you have to wait for the light to turn green (not to big of a deal) however, to turn left you can either choose between the first or the second lane, and most cars will still use the left lane to go straight... I even saw the gardai doing it last weekend...

    Roundabout

    oopps somebody already mentioned this

That is insane, people are meant to bypass the filter turn to the left, go up to the roundabout and turn left back to Sandyford. Two ways to get to the same place within 100m meters, do these planners have no clue how people really think and drive?

agree that its daft, and, probably more importantly, very counter-intuitive

believe its been at least the third such road marking change in as many years.. which again surely cant help things
