I say about the date because according to Wrestlezone, this aired in America last night. It was advertised as live, despite being taped earlier in the day in England. Did Sky Sports show this last night? Usually when Smackdown is shown on Tuesday in America, it goes at the same time on Sky Sports.

    Anyway, spoilers ahoy...

Michael Cole starts things off by welcoming Sheamus to the ring, and he says Sheamus must be upset after what happened last night. Cole informs the crowd that Big Show assaulted him at a pub last night, then he plays some exclusive footage of the incident. He says it must be difficult to watch, but Sheamus tells him to get out of the ring because he needs to deal with this. Sheamus says he can't believe Big Show had the stones to jump him and William Regal, but he's still standing. Sheamus says he'll let Show finish what he started, because Survivor Series is about a title match but tonight is about him kicking Show's giant ass. Big Show appears on the Titantron and asks if this is the thanks he gets, because he held back a bit so he didn't completely destroy Sheamus before Survivor Series.

Show says he is going to knock him out again just like he did before, and he shouldn't be asking to get hurt again. Sheamus tells him he's afraid to come down there, but Show denies it and says he doesn't have any reason to do it, then Wade Barrett comes out to meet Sheamus. He says Sheamus should worry about him instead, because they have a match tomorrow but he thinks he should take his... Sheamus cuts him off and tells him to come fight him right now. Wade thinks about it and heads to the ring, but he changes his mind and ends up going backstage. Booker T finds Wade backstage and says that was cute, but he never thought Wade would be one to back down from a fight. He says he talked to William Regal, and he set up a match for later tonight that will see Wade team with Big Show against Sheamus and Regal tonight.

    Intercontinental Championship
The Miz vs Kofi Kingston (c)

Miz puts Kofi in a side headlock but Kofi reverses it, then he switches to a waistlock but Miz elbows him and shoves him into the corner. Kofi comes back with a monkey flip and a clothesline that sends Miz outside, then he goes for a baseball slide kick but Miz moves out of the way. Kofi jumps up on the barricade and knocks Miz down, then he rolls him back in the ring but Miz knocks Kofi down on the mat as we go to a break. Miz pulls Kofi away from the ropes as we get back, then he works on his left knee but Kofi kicks him back and tries to roll him up.

Miz comes back with a low dropkick for a near fall, then he goes back after Kofi's knee and jumps down on it before twisting it around his body. Kofi uses his free leg to kick him, then he connects with some mounted punches and some chops before hitting a flying forearm shot. Kofi hits a Boom Drop and calls for Trouble In Paradise, but Miz ducks and sets up a Skull Crushing Finale, only to have Kofi counter with a rollup attempt. Miz kicks out and puts him in a single leg Boston crab, but Kofi makes it to the ropes and crawls to the apron to recover.

Miz runs at him but Kofi elbows him, then he tries going up top but Miz crotches him on the ropes and climbs up top. He sets up a superplex but Kofi blocks it, then he shoves Miz back but Miz punches him in the head. Miz goes back after him and punches him in the head, but Kofi shoves him back down and connects with a crossbody block for the win. Miz looks shocked that he lost and sticks around after the match, then he waits for Kofi to stop celebrating and stands in his way. Miz extends his hand and asks for Kofi to shake on it, but Kofi doesn't buy it and dropkicks him out of the ring before leaving.

    Winner - Kofi Kingston

Sin Cara & Rey Mysterio vs Prime Time Players

Young kicks Cara a few times but Cara comes back with a headscissors takedown, then Young kicks him and drops him with a side slam for a near fall. Titus tags in and slams him to the mat, then he holds Cara up while Young kicks him and takes him down with a snapmare. Young wrenches back on Cara's neck but Cara frees himself, then Young whips him into the corner but Cara comes back with a corkscrew dive. Titus tags in and tries to pull Cara back, but Cara enziguiris him and Rey gets in and hits some mounted punches in the corner. Rey punches Titus again before heading up top, then he hits a seated senton and sets up a 619. Young hits him from behind so Cara dives on Young on the floor, then Titus picks up Rey and drops him with Clash of the Titus for the win.

    Winners - Prime Time Players

Teddy Long is talking to Booker T about all of the controversy in WWE, but he has dealt with Vickie Guerrero before and he wants to put it behind him. He says he's looking forward to tonight's action, then Booker asks him if she could make a match like he has in the works. Teddy says he thinks it's great and Vickie isn't that smart, then Booker accuses him of sucking up but Teddy denies it and says he's not like that. Booker breaks out laughing and says he was just kidding with him, then he puts his arm around him and tells him to watch the match with him.

Wade Barrett & Big Show vs William Regal & Sheamus

Sheamus and Regal rush the ring and attack their opponents, then Show and Wade retreat outside and tell the ref to do his job and back them away. The bell finally rings and Wade punches Sheamus in the corner, then Sheamus comes back with a hiptoss and puts Wade in a side headlock. Wade hits Regal behind the ref's back, then Show chops him in the corner and Sheamus chases Wade around the ring but the ref sends him back to his corner. Regal tries to mount some offense but Show absorbs his punches and hits a shoulder block, then he mocks Sheamus and knocks Regal down with a headbutt. We get back after a break to see Wade punching Regal in the corner, then Show tags in and punches him in the kidneys and kicks him in the ribs.

Sheamus tries to jump in but the ref backs him away, then Show dares Regal to get back up before throwing him in the corner and chopping him. Wade drops a knee and gets a near fall, then he applies a front facelock but Regal breaks the hold and counters with a quick suplex. Regal surprises Wade with a running elbow and finally makes the tag, then Sheamus stuns Show with some forearm shots and a flying tackle. Sheamus heads up top and connects with a shoulder tackle, then he calls for a Brogue Kick but Wade distracts him and Show drops him with a spear. Regal makes a tag and knees Show in the face, then he hits the ropes but Show connects with a Knockout Punch for the win.

Winners - Wade Barrett & Big Show

Matt Striker catches up with Alberto Del Rio and asks him about his rivalry with Randy Orton, and he says he saw what happened last week and asks what else will happen. Alberto says last week was nothing, and he is the real Apex Predator so he will show everyone that Orton is a baby. He says it doesn't matter where he beats him because he will be victorious, then he yells at Striker and tells him to get away from him. Alberto turns to leave but he runs into Rosa Mendes, then she wishes him good luck in tonight's match and smiles as she walks away. Striker next finds Orton and asks for a response, and Orton says Alberto's name calling is getting to him, because he knows what he's in store for. Orton says he is going to get sadistic because this is one of his favorite types of matches, and he wants to remind everyone how sick he is.

Alberto runs away while Ricardo searches under the ring, then Orton suplexes him over the barricade but Alberto lands on his feet. Orton grabs him and sets up a hanging DDT, but Alberto frees himself and tries to run away through the crowd.

Orton catches him and hits him from behind, then Alberto turns it around and throws Orton into a table as we go to a break. We get back to see Alberto kicking Orton backstage on the ground, then he goes for a pin but Orton kicks out so Alberto tries throwing an equipment case at him. Orton avoids it and throws Alberto into it, then they fight back into the crowd where Orton pulls Alberto over the barricade and goes for another DDT. Alberto backdrops him into the crowd and gets a near fall, then he punches Orton in the head and shoves him into the stands. Orton turns things around and punches him in the head, then they get to the top of the stairs and Orton gets a two count pin attempt before throwing him back down the stairs.

Bit of a dick move by Kofi.

Did anyone else think that was Brock in the bar at the wall, sitting down and got up to shake hands with Sheamus?

Start of a heel turn by him perhaps, I kinda wanted to see him feud with R-Truth

Why would Kofi shake his hand anyways? Presume they will do the thing where Miz has to earn peoples trust etc

Did Sheamus's opening promo remind anyone else of Irish Whip Wrestling's show opening promos? Was expecting the Ballymun Brusier to interupt him. lol

More so to me it seems to be a start of a storyline were Miz slowly proves to Kofi and other babyfaces he is a reformed character (a babyface himself).

Or a bluff. Miz tries to prove he's a face now and Mick Foley makes him Rybacks replacement in his team. Miz then costs them the match on purpose and reveals it was his plan all along. Miz gets more heat. Ziggler gets a slight push as Team Ziggler won. Nobody on Team Foley looks weak because they were betrayed.

That's true as well. Back in the terrorital days bookers would do the angle you are describing a lot.

Eddie and Batista were doing a slow full face turn of Eddie before he died too:

Who's bright idea was it to do a 'live' Smackdown against the election coverage?

You don't even need to go that far back for the "Heel pretending to be good" story, though perhaps cause it was a divas angle, people weren't paying attention when Eve and Layla did it two months back :P
