Windows 8 Upgrade - Blurry Screen

I did an in-place upgrade from Windows 7 HP to Windows 8 Pro on my Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 (Intel HD 3000 w/ Nvidia GeForce GT 525M switchable graphics) a few days ago. It went fine except that the Desktop and any non-Modern UI apps look somewhat blurry.

    So far, I've

    • installed Windows 8 Intel HD graphics drivers from Windows Update - doesn't fix the blurriness
    • installed Windows 8 Intel HD graphics drivers from the Intel support site - doesn't fix the blurriness
    • manually installed Windows 8 Intel HD graphics for my Dell laptop from the Dell support site (manual install because the installer claims that the drivers aren't validated for my machine) - doesn't fix the blurriness
    • installed Windows 7 Intel HD Graphics drivers from the Dell support site - they fix the blurriness BUT my laptop started blue screening so I decided to remove them

I remember I was able to cause a similar effect in Windows 7 by installing non-Dell Intel graphics drivers. I also have Nvidia Verde 306.97 drivers installed.

I've made sure that the laptop screen refresh is set to 60Hz and I emailed Dell support about their non-compatible drivers, to no effect. Has anyone else with the same machine had this problem?

On my external monitor there are no display issues.

sounds like your display resolution is not set to the native display resolution of the screen.

Whats the resolution on the Dell?

    1366x768

I'll make sure to check it's actually set to its native resolution later this evening.

The laptop panel is set to its native 1366x768 resolution.

EDIT: And I forgot to add, still blurry and generally not-quite-right.

Dell (finally) released a driver that fixed it, I'll post the URL just in case anyone else was having this particular problem:

Similar issue (for future googles of thread) I had a customer mention they got motion sickness from the scrolling action on Windows 8 with large screen monitors (>17"); basically the way text etc. fuzzes out while you're scrolling and doesn't snap back to 'sharpness' until it's static again. Probably affects very few people, but worth noting.
