Hi I recently fitted an Ultegra octaline chainset to a hybrid I'm building up.However I've encountered a problem, the arm of the chain wheel is rubbing off the frame.Does anyone no how to solve this problem? If so hit me up.Cheers.

Is your frame or crank arms bent in anyway?

No they look straight to me.Would putting spacers behind the BB solve this problem?

I can't see why you'd have this problem if your frame and crank arms are straight:confused:

Are you sure you have it all installed properly?

You might need a wider BB...if you can get alternate lengths of octalink BB's? Do you know what the width of the current one is?

I'm not sure...I think it could be a 68mm.I'll try the spacers first and if they don't work I'll try a different BB.Cheers.

68mm is the thread spacing I'd say, it should be in the region of maybe 110-120mm I think...

    I haven't a clue to be honest.Cheers anyway.

68mm would be the bottom bracket shell width.

I think if you want help online, photos are the easiest way to avoid any confusion in language.

Octalink road doubles use a 109.5mm axle and the triples use a 118mm axle(thats from memory so dont go crazy if im slightly off!) You cant(or shouldnt)use any spacers on them,if one of the cranks is hitting the frame and the chainrings arent then something is bent somewhere. But there is also the small chance that your hybrid frame has a 73mm BB shell, it would be unusual but not impossible, if so the left hand crank may hit the frame,if this is the case theres nothing you can do except get a new BB and chainset!

needs spacers on the side of crank which is to close to frame
the bb is 68/73mm wide so if You put two spacers(2,5mm tick each)this gives You 73 mm width

Don't want to sound like a pain but you're wrong, Octalink road BBs only come in 68mm and 70mm(Italian thread) sizes, you should not fit any spacers on any side what so ever as the non drive side cup won't hold the BB unit properly if you do.

OP feel free to let a bodge job be done but you will run into problems very shortly if you do!!!
