50Hz TV

    Hi,
I see some TVs nowadays advertised as '50Hz' - for example this LG:
    http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/LG-42CS460-Full-HD-42andampquot-LCD-TV/309996/191

I would have though any modern TV in the HD era was capable of 60Hz input and panel refresh. Regardless of what the actual gtg pixel response was.

And indeed when I check the manual it very clearly supports 60Hz input over HDMI. At 1920x1080 it claims to support 60Hz, 50Hz, 23.976Hz etc.

If I feed one of these TVs a 60Hz signal over HDMI does it attempt to display every single frame or is it dropping 10 out of 60 frames which would seem to be a very stupid and juddery thing to do?

Or perhaps are they underadvertising these sets to make their 100Hz models more attractive sounding?
