    Hi there,

I am on rent allowance in Sallins and have been told I have to go on the housing list to continue to receive the payments. Was on RA some years back in Wicklow and was told by Citizens Advice that this is not the case. Are things different now?

    Thanks

The rules have changed (not all that recently -2010? ish) in relation to being able to get RA in the first place, although if you're already on it I'm not sure if they apply.

To get it initially without being on the housing list you need to have been paying the rest yourself for 6 months. They might be applying this same rule at an annual renewal for you if you're close to that time.
