The Ridiculous ProTour Lottery

Surely the ludicrous system whereby the UCI award Protour licenses based primarily on rider's points, but with 'ethical' and other sporting criteria must be challenged. Only last week Sohrabi was let go by Lotto (they kept the other 27 riders) having only been signed by them last year so they could benefit from his points to keep their ProTour status. Now Joost Posthuma has retired at only 31 as he can't get a berth anywhere as he has no points to bring with him...

"I have been negotiating with different teams such Vacansoleil, but they had no room. Additionally, there are many teams that need ProTour points and, to be honest, I have none. Teams need points in order to remain in the top tier," Posthuma said.

The system is flippin ridiculous and only serves to encourage doping.
