I think I seen some recently in B&Q or Homebase.

Also get it from a condenser tumble dryer.

You dont have to buy it, you can just make it.
Fill your kettle with water and leave it to boil. And you get distilled water.

    Don't think this is true.

If you let the steam condense and collect it, then thats distilled water afaik.

What do you want it for? If it's to top up a lead acid battery de-ionised water is just as good and can be got in motor factors.

I agree with what ye are saying.
And off course you have to wait for water to cool down and once it's cooled down it's preferred to pour it into another bottle through filter so that all limescale or whatever is called stays in the kettle and you get clean distilled water in other bottle.

No - I'll get boiled water.

If you made your kettle to evaporate all the water, and you would catch the steam and liquify it, then yes - you would get distilled water.

Depends on quality and hardness of your tap water.
I could most likely fill in my radiator with tap water from Mayo and it would work great.
But if I've done in my home place in Poland, probably whole cooling system would be blocked out of limescale in few days.

Here in Mayo, I don't even have to use salt in dishwasher as water is so great.

I wouldn't use tap water in an hard water area

If you boil a kettle and let the water cool, what you're left with is worse than what you started with because only pure water in the form of steam escapes so whatever impurities were in the water beforehand will still be there except now they will be in a higher concentration.

Unless you have the equipment (known as a 'still') to capture the steam and condense it, you would be as well off buying deionised water in Halfords or any motor factor. If you only want a pint or so, your local chemist will sell you distilled water.

Yes spotted it yesterday, was only a couple of euro for it, think it was 2.5 litres.

Its also worth noting there is a significant difference between Deionised Water and Distilled water. Deionised water is very hard on certain metal types, Ive seen it first hand.
