Parkrun - Appeal for volunteers

    Hi,

(Am in two minds about whether or not this should be in Events - so Mods, please feel free to move it)

As many of you know, Parkrun Ireland commences this week with the inaugural event in Malahide. Like other events, Parkrun relies heavily on volunteers to ensure its success, and with that in mind we are putting out an appeal for a bit of assistance.

    1) General volunteers for the first couple of events
Parkruns generally recruit volunteers from amongst their regular participants, and participants are encouraged to opt-out of running the odd event here and there and volunteer at it instead instead. However, at the moment we don't have any regular participants!

We have the minimum number of volunteers to cover the first few events, but a few extra pairs of hands would be useful. It will mainly be for marshaling roles, but we'll also be training a group of people on how to use the various bits of equipment at the finish to spread this workload so that the organising team get a chance to run every now and then!

    2) Participants for a "dummy" run on Friday afternoon
In order to test the systems we need a handful of people to take part in a short run on Friday afternoon at Malahide Castle. It will probably be mid-afternoon.

If you can volunteer for either, please let myself or Plodder know.

    Thanks
