    It's about 3.5 to 4 Km. Takes me 45 to 55 minutes.

I wouldn't really bother with the Luas it's only a five minute walk from Connoly to O'Connell street.

The rest of this post is spot on though.

Follow the Luas tracks to O'Connell St. ;)

Wouldn't walk to DCU, especially if you're not familiar with the city.

Just get the bus from O' Connell St. The fares have increased since I last made the trip but it should be less than 2 euro each way. Probably won't take longer than 15 mins.

Best of luck with the open day!

The route from Connolly Station to the bus stop for DCU is marked on the attached map.

The bus stops are just outside Dr Quirkeys on O'Connell Street. As Mr.S said you can get a number 4, 9, 11, or 13. Ask the driver to let you off at DCU, the bus stops opposite the entrance to DCU.

The bus costs EUR1.90, you need exact change.

    Enjoy the Open Day!

From O'Connell street, you can get the 4, 9, 11 and 13. The 4, 9, and 11 all stop at Stop 281 (as on the Dublin Bus site) which is just beside Dr Quirkey's, directly outside the 4D cinema place.
Chances are that a lot of people will be going to the Open Day on these buses too, ask the bus driver to let you know when they stop at DCU.
If you keep an eye on the road signs and such though, you can find your way yourself. When the bus gets onto the Ballymun Road, keep an eye out for a bright yellow filling station on the left hand side (On The Run). The second bus stop after this is the stop at the gates of DCU, it's just beside a pedestrian crossing, and beside a pub called Matt Weldon's, a pharmacy called Chamber's, and a Eurospar. On the far side of the road, you'll see the gates to DCU.

Have fun on the open day! It was one of the things that helped me choose DCU in the end :)

From Abbey Street at the Luas stop to DCU, it's more like 5km, but anyway...

This thread does not vanish after the OP has made their trip. The info may be helpful to others, some of whom may not have the time or may be unwilling to walk 5km. :)
