Time Machine & Windows Home Server

Hi All,

I have recently installed a new Windows Home Server 2011 HP Proliant Microserver in my office and configured the relevant shares and users accordingly.

I have 2 MacBook Pro's which I would like to backup to this server using Time Machine - as its the obvious choice! However, after much configuration and 'tinkering' I am unable to get Time Machine to work and not give me AFP errors. I am running the infamous OSX Lion 10.7.4.

I would be very grateful if anyone could shed any light on this subject for me as to how I may be able to get this to work or maybe even an alternative similar solution?

As far as I know, Time Machine requires the drives to be formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

Thanks a million for that. Will give it a go, however it all looks like a risky job? Has anyone tried it and if so, any hurdles or stumbling blocks? More importantly, any disaster stories?

It will probably work fine, but why would you take a chance like that with your backups?
