Good morning guys,Hope someone can help me with this....I've noticed over the past week or so that in the mornings after i've been driving my car for about 5 mins & stopped at lights that my engine is making a loud roaring noise (like someone is revving it). The first time this happened i turned the ignition off and back on again but it wouldnt't start. eventually after about 30 seconds or so i got it to start again...So this morning the same thing happened when i was stopped at lights in the city centre, i left it running but then when i went to move it conked out....couldnt get it to start for about a minute...not ideal in busy traffic in city centre! I also noticed a smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) which disappeared after a few mins.On both occassions the car has been fine after that and for the rest of the day so has me thinking it's something got to do with it warming up as mornings are colder.....any suggestions as to what this could be?Cheers

Was the car serviced regularly? Oil, air filter, petrol filter ever changed?
Could be faulty cat, could be blocked exhaust.
Driving the car much? Or just 5 mins one way?
Where do you usually buy petrol? Independent? Network?

No it hasn't been serviced lately but passed NCT few weeks ago! I drive it weekdays literally from city centre to blanch twice daily....usually just fill up in whatever garage im closest to at the time if im honest. I think i'll be getting to nearest garage this evening anyway so what the problem is, don't want a repeat of this morning!

Have same issue here with 02 Peugeot 206 cc. Car was left idle for 3 months and then issues began with electric windows, no feed, well that's what NCT guy said. Plus must fix front left knocking, new ball bearing.

May be the thermostat, If it is faulty the car will always think it is cold and will rev higher. The smell is from the cat as ther previous poster stated and is related to the car revving. This should be a cheap fix, Thermostat ,coolant and 30 mins labour.
