Kinda tempted to buy a DeVille double chamber Ash Vac.

    http://www.devielle.ie/range/ashvac.php

1200 watt motor with a 16 litre main chamber and an 8 litre secondary chamber.

Has anyone got a DeVille ash vac?

What are they like to use?

Do they really suck up all the ash and small bits from a fire/stove?

Or is it just a gimmick??

    Thanks.:)

There was one out there that attached to a regular vacuum cleaner. It was a lot cheaper I know someone that had one and they liked it

Where i have a problem with these is that its fine if your only burning turf but if your burning logs or coal which leaves clumps your going to have to pick them out first.

    Thanks Joey.

Reason why Im looking at one of these is that it can be awkward to clean out the stove.

But I dont know how good they are in "real life".

Anything can be made to look great for a "TV ad".;):pac:

I have one at the moment and to be honest I haven't found it great. My experience is that the filter gets clogged up pretty quickly which means the suction power drops considerably. Only solution I found was to empty the filter and start over but after one or two uses you're back to square one again.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm in exactly the same position. I'm bringing it back to Woodies and looking for a refund. This is only after one cleaning!!!

I have one of the older single-chamber ones for a wood pellet boiler, and while at first I was disappointed by the power, it really doesn't make a difference since all it needs to pick up is ash and the odd wood pellet. It doesn't really suffer from the filter problem (or possibly I just ignore it :)). Sits for weeks in the hearth in our living room without changing.

Hi all, I got the De Vielle Ash Vac in Woodies for EUR 110 a month ago, and it is good, but like above, the clips come loose after a while (for no reason) and don't clasp properly anymore. When you lift it, the vac sections (3 in total: motor at top, central filter part, and bottom ash container) can open, causing an ash cloud to come out. A workaround is to jam paper between the clips, which is fiddley. 😫

This may sound daft but read on. The clips coming loose could be an issue with vacuum. That said,,, what I mean is that this appliance, just like my own clogs up really fast. I only get one use out of it before I have to clean the fabric filter. When this happens, the negative pressure within the machine causes the casing to implode. It's this I believe causes the clips to come loose over time. Solution here is,, go to lidl and buy the paper vacuum bags for the Parkside brand wet and dry vacuum they sell from time to time. The bags are 20 litre type, not the bigger 30 litre. You get 12 bags for €7.99, remove the small band of cardboard around the bag rubber seal and these bags fit straight on. I only hoover out the residual Ash from my stove grate as most is pushed down into the ashpan beforehand. I get 2 full months out of the paper bag and no internal cleaning of the ash chamber is ever needed.

    Hope this helps.
