Ryanair Prepaid Card - will now have to pay the €6 booking fee each way

It now seems that everyone will have to pay the €6 each way admin fee (aka credit / debit card charge) from Dec 1st 2012. Currently you do not pay this when paying with the Ryanair Cash Passport (their own prepaid card).

How annoying... This is the 3rd card that I've had to get in the last 3 years so as not to pay these charges (1. Visa Electron 2. Prepaid Mastercard 3. Ryanair Cash Passport)

Ryanair will now have to advertise their fares inclusive of the admin fee. Of course they could still allow us to use the card and deduct the admin fee at the end, but they wont do that... The only reason they allowed the use of the prepaid card was so they could advertise their fares as cheap as possible while hiding the charges. Now that this is no longer possible, there is no incentive for them to waive the admin fee!

More annoying is that I cannot find any mention of this on the Ryanairs website and they are still advertising their prepaid card as follows:

    RYANAIR BENEFITS AND INTRODUCTORY OFFERS
No transactions fees when purchasing flights on Ryanair.com (all administration fees and transaction fees are waived)*

*/** Waivers may be withdrawn or amended at Ryanairs discretion. You will be notified of any changes via email.

Ryanair says in an email to Cash Passport holders: "It is with regret that we write to inform you that, as a result of decisions by the UK Office of Fair Trading, Ryanair Cash Passport card users will no longer benefit from avoiding the £6 admin fee."

Think it might only apply to U.K. holders

    Thanks Dohouch,

I have a UK card so it will apply to me. I will check out if it applies to Irish cards and if not, then I will get me one of them!

    Cheers,
    JT.

Great... No changes to the Irish prepaid card. Got this reply from them.

Thank you for your email and inquiry.

Currently there are no changes to the benefits of the Ryanair cash passport purchased in Ireland.
