S7E6 - Do the Wrong Thing [Spoilers]

Better than last week, but not by much. Lots of simultaneous storylines going on:

Dexter and Lumen II: I don't get it. Why not just kill her? I always thought dex was a sociopath, and now he didn't kill a girl cos she was hot and needed a ride?

LaGuerta: She'll find out about Dexter soon. Any reason she'll end up on his table?

The Russians and Columbians: You'd think Issac would have some connections in prison, so that's a strange thing that he'd be scared in prison.

Quinn and the Russian: Not big on caring, but it sets it up nicely for a Dex/Issac reunion

Sal Price: Could be a good character, but it just smells like Lewis II

Batista wants to retire: Again, couldn't care.

As good a reason as any! :P

I wondered if Deb talking about Lumen might have had some part in that decision..
Perhaps with the fact that Isaac is after him, LaGuerta is (unknowingly) after him, and Deb turning out to be a bother in his opinion, he figured that a sexy accomplice might be just what he needs.. Also, it's not the first time he's sort of traded killing for sex (Lila).
The Russians and Columbians: You'd think Issac would have some connections in prison, so that's a strange thing that he'd be scared in prison.
Well he may have meant what he said, that he didn't want to end up killing anyone in there, as he wanted to get out as soon as possible.

I know what you mean, I was more wondering about how there were no other members of his gang in there with him, or at least sympathetic to his gang. I would have expected him to have at least two heavies in there

Yeah true, I mean they could just be a very careful gang; but the fact that he had a phone should suggest either cronies on the inside or guards in his pocket.

Dexter's always had Debs. Now he's estranged from her and she doesn't understand him. It's no surprise then that he'd look for someone like a new Lumen, which is what we saw.
What'll be interesting is when Debs finds out, knowing his past now with Lumen and knowing what Sarah Walker actually is.

Season continues to be, in my opinion, light years ahead in quality than the last two.

I agree, I've been really enjoying it.

Have to say I really enjoyed the line (inner monologue) "I really need to kill someone" when he leaves Deb's house - reminded me of old times. It also kind of makes the fact that he spared Hannah more significant, as I said like when he quit killing in Season 2 and started ridin' Lila instead..

I picked excellent because we saw some Yvonne Strahovski sideboob.

Also, I think her reaction to her impending death (which was cold, unemotional) was a 'quality' Dexter saw in himself and saw that she's different to the who he normally deals with in these circumstances.

    Price looks a good character.

I really didn't like the final scene, with Hannah. Whatever happened to the Dexter who was so consumed with his "dark passenger" that he didn't have sexual desires, or needs....remember the scene when Rita first makes a move on him , on the couch? He was so awkward, it was hilarious!

I hate that they bring in random slightly psychotic women just as filler stories (Lumen, Lila etc)

He was awkward because he'd never indulged in such thing before.

It's not inconceivable to think he's become more comfortable with that aspect of life and has other urges as well as his dark passenger's.

The only season I've found of Dexter thus far a chore to get through was Season 3, which I thought was simply abysmal, and although I wouldn't rate either 5 or 6 amongst the better seasons of what's left, I enjoyed them for what they were. This current season though, I find absolutely incredible - the net to which Dexter will inevitably succumb is widening with each episode, and what were once isolated loose ends easily rectified are now entire webs of potential danger spreading further beyond his grasp. It's great stuff, I genuinely love it.

Currently outshines the opening 6 episodes of all other seasons in my view. Brilliant stuff, and remarkable that they have recovered the show so brilliantly from the catastrophic Season 6

Really? I watched it twice ;) Hannah is like a magnet for Dexter, and he's possibly off his stride anyway with the whole Deb knowing thing too. Plus it helps a lot that she is so very attractive. Putting Hannah next to Rita they are similarly beautiful women.
