    Hi all,
    trading in my basic giant defy 4 and am looking for suggestions on a half carbon/carbon bike, in and around 1100 to spend. Not fussy on brands but locally scott, trek, giant and forme are common in the shops. (see one very nice forme bike but didnt know the brand}
    Im an occasional cyclist at present but hope to complete a few triathalons next year and use the bike more as a group of friends are cycling good distances regularly.
    any help greatly appreciated

    I think there was a Ridley Orion on wiggle or somewhere for there or there about your budget.

    I dont think you could go wrong with any of those bikes above, its really down to personal preference in geometry and that.

    What about forme bikes? Very hard to find reviews on them?

    That price, buying online, these are probably as good as you will get.
    They are near identical.

    Canyon Roadlite AL 6.0SL: €999

    Rose Pro-2200: €899

    I've linked to the APEX version because I prefer sram and I think Apex is a step up from 105 but they are both available in 105 at the same prices.

    At that price FORME tend to have microshift shifters with a mix of shinamo 105, I've no experience with the shifters myself but I've read they are a pain in the arse to get working smoothly.

    Not sure whether that's €1,100 + whatever you get for the Defy? There's not a lot wrong with a Defy so in IMHO I would be hanging on until I could afford a full carbon bike with a minimum of 105! There is very little point in spending in excess of €1000 for a bike that might be only marginally better than what you already have! Somebody bought a really nice Cannondale here recently at a very good price - would be worth a search!

    Thanks- am prepared to go a bit higher in price to get a good upgrade on the defy. Dealer pushing the full carbon forme and have to say I liked it, had 105. But reluctant as nobody I know has one.

    Those Forme bikes are nice. As long as the shifters are 105 not the micro ones as mentioned above. There's no point not buying a bike because its not all that popular. Ask the dealer can you take it for a spin, after all 1100 euro+ is not small change.

    be careful,
    Scott have transport problems, waiting for my Scott bike and was told it was in the shop and tagged, went to collect and was told Scott are having problems and wont have it until early next year. I dont know if this probelm relates to parts also.
