Remote control (smartphone) for heating

I'm looking at options for remote control of the heating system and would be glad of any advice.

Heatmiser seem to have a comprehensive range, and I've asked some of the distributors for prices http://www.heatmiser.co.uk/web/index.php/wifi-thermostats

The screenshots look a bit clunky though, and it may be a bit awkward to use through the web interface.

At an expo recently, Electric Ireland were pushing climote. http://www.climote.ie/ It sells for about 300, and there's a subscription cost of €36/yr. I think being able to control the heating remotely would certainly save at least €36/yr... more like treble that. The interface is fairly slick. Technically, it's based on SIM card (subscription covers SMS costs) and not WiFi.

Does anyone have any experience of either of those, or recommend a different brand/model?

I'd like to be able to power on the heating a little while before coming home and adjust the timings/temperatures to avoid a freeze up if there is a drop in temperatures while away for a while. I'd prefer not to have an annual subscription.

Hi edanto... give a local RGI installer a buzz or one recommend to you. Try rgii.ie or aphci.ie
The big energy company wouldnt have a good standard of workmanship and personal touch which you get with a local guy.
