So if a rear wiper is fitted, it must be in good condition. At the moment there is an arm but no wiper at the end, so does that qualify as fitted but in bad condition? How about if I removed the arm, just leaving the motor spindle? Is that a hazard to pedestrians? (I know, just buy a wiper for it...but then I have never used the rear wiper).

If it is part of the original spec they will look for it.

Is it just missing the actual wiper part? What do they cost; a tenner or something in Halfords? Seems the best solution to me...

Buy a rear blade for it. Once you have it you'll start using it. I actually miss not having one on my current car.

    Rear wipers are not tested,

Page 21 of the NCT booklet - Notes section - 'This test only applies to front windscreens'

I had a dodgy rear wiper once when going through the NCT. It looked fine, it worked fine, if you lifted the wiper away from the window, the wiper (not arm) would fall off.

I thought i'd run through the test to see how it got on. Before hand, I was looking at what the testers done to the other cars. They basically just give it a little tug.

Thankfully the lad testing mine just gave it the softest of tugs, and it stayed in place.

Whether it fails or not, i dont know. But they at least test it.

the Irish solution...don't fix it properly, try to find a dodge around it.
