4 weeks notice paid or not?

    Hi,

    I learnt 10 days ago my job will end up at the end of January 2013.I started to work in a full time and permanent contract for this company since december 2010.My last salary will be sent on the 30 of january.


    My question is :

    Will I be paid for the 4 weeks notice that means for february 2013 or not?

    Eh, given that you were told 10 days ago that your job is finished on 31st January, that's your notice, you've been given three months notice.

    If you are permanent are you being made redundant?

    No, your notice period is time you spend working.
    They've given you ~12 weeks notice that you'll finish at the end of January. This just means they told you 8 weeks before they had to.

    You will be entitled to redundancy though.

    I'm not really aware about the law in these circumstances.

    I don't know if I will be redundant, i don't have much information at the moment.I started my contract on the 6th of december 2010 and will be terminated on the 31st of january 2013.

    The only thing i know is we have to work 104 weeks for being made redundant, so i presume that will be the case.

    I asked for the notice it it was paid or not as people fired on the same day were being paid but the situation is different.

    do you mean if I have been informed 3 months in advance, the notice is not paid?

    Notice is you or your employer informing/advising the other of an intention to leave a job or terminate a contract. Your contract is being terminated on the 31st January, so four weeks notice (advice of this happening) would be December 31st.

    You don't get paid an extra four weeks after you finish a job as part of notice.

    Is your contract ending as there is no more work or the company is closing down? If it is then you are entitled to statutory redundancy

    I'm not sure what you mean to be honest.

    The company has to let you know four weeks in advance of you finishing work that there is no more work, i.e. give you notice. As you will be working there for those four weeks until it ends, you get paid.

    You are entitled to redundancy

    They gave you more than 4 weeks notice, so no you will not be paid extra.
