    Hi All,
I'm looking at ditching my land line/fixed broadband. I'm looking at Nova Networks in Sth Cork city. I'd like to know if you're using them.......

    1) Are you happy with speeds or are/were there issues?
    2) Are you happy with their customer service?
    3) Were there any notable issues when setting up/retrieving pop3 mail?
    4) How is the quality of video streaming?
    5) How about their phone service do you get good voice quality?
    6) Have you ported your phone number to them? Any issues?

Any feed back would be appreciated.

    Many thanks.
    Regards,
    AQ

Just off the phone with them this second. They're busy, may take 2 weeks for installer to get to me.

Will put up a posting and entry to the Rate ISP site in due course.

    Thanks again.

I would have been one of their earlier customers in the harbour area some years ago. Initially there was severe problems with the service, being unusable approx 50% of the time. Credit where it's due though, the service was improved after some months and was pretty much fault free after that. Note as well that they tend to get better comparative speeds than the DSL competitors - i.e. I was on a 3Mb package and was actually getting 3Mb. Left them for Vodafone DSL a couple of years ago, but am now considering rejoining Nova. Their pricing is still a bit higher than the competition though.

I've attached a screen grab of my speeds if that's of help to anyone. Always seem to get what I pay for. Found value as good as anyone locally, add in gr8 service and I'm a very happy camper - though I have to say Carnsore BB in Wexford seems like a great deal - if you're in Wexford :-)

    Hi All,
Had the Nova link installed on Monday. Dave the installer had it all tested and working in < hour. I've done quiet a few speed tests peak and off peak and speeds are as expected.

So far they get 5 Stars!

Can you keep us posted on how you get along over the next few weeks?

We were thinking of getting in Nova after the New Year. Not interested in the phone or anything,,just the Broadband.

Is it the 8MB pack you went for?

For a large number of people living in the rural/exurban fringe around Cork Nova and Digiweb are the best service available. eircoms cabinets will not provide a faster service outside of the urban areas ....eg most of the Douglas exchange area is rural and south of the city and will not be upgraded at all.

    Happy New Year!

My Nova link is working A1. I disconnected my landline and ported my phone number over to VoIP. Am with Goldfish.ie.

I'm on an 8MB/1MB link. Most of the speed tests I've done so far are showing faster speeds on both the up and downloads. The slowest I've had are 7.6/0.9.

I'd still give them 5 Stars!

just a follow up on this, be careful as to how much you download as there is a cap and this comes into play each day, so lets say you have a monthly bandwidth of 60 gb that works out at 2gb a day allowance, go over this and you internet is
    severely restricted,

Worst provider in Ireland !!!!!! they connecting all houses to the same line. if someone is downloading something in other house so your internet speed going slower immediately. And to call to them can get to 50 minutes until someone answer the phone . and if you have some problems with internet you must pay money for appointment to talk with technical support and they will call you someone to repair and even then you must pay to what guy for repairing !!!!!!!!!!!!!! useless provider. ( appointment cost ~30 Euro ant for repairman depends what problem you got and for what what hi come 50 Euro. mdf doing business like professionals

Not a single word of all of the above is true. Paying to talk to helpdesk? 50 minute hold times? Not true. I'm in the industry. Nobody connects everyone to the same "line" per se. All broadband networks are on shared media

    - 192 ports in a VDSL cab share 2.5Gbps.
    - A block shares a Docsis segment.
    - A FWA sector shares airtime.
    - A GPON FTTH customer shares downstream timeslots and upstream grants.
    - Everyone shares backhauls.

I think every company would say what overs laying if they saying bad things about them :DDDDDDD sad that i couldnt put photos here

Think he's (or she's) got his companies mixed up. There'd be a lot of cables floating in the air if Nova were connecting people with wires :p

There has been a huge fall off in speed and reliability over the last 18 months or so. After 10pm service is intermittent at best. When I got in touch with them they kept an eye on my connection overnight and then told me that everything was fine, despite the fact that none of our phones, tablets, TV etc could connect to the web. Voip was not working either. When I told them that they said a tree must be getting in the way! That's some tree, very punctual.

I couldn't be bothered getting on to them again if they just lie. I appreciate that this is my first post and it's a rant but I'm at my wits end!

i told them what i won't pay any charges for ticket and other charges for changing satellite and new wire so whey reduced my speed to 0.16mbps funny how whey making money its must be free because nova networks giving bad service to me!!!!! but its whey giving bad service and i must pay for fixing this problem. its the same **** like i will fix you car and i will pay you for my work

So you expect a company to send a guy out to you, climb up on your roof, install a new receiver, run a new cable down to the router and do all this for free? It cost €99 to install them in the first place and you want them replaced now just because you don't like the old ones?
Nova only have a 30 day contract, you might be better off changing to someone else with an attitude like that.

Oh, and the reason you've had your speed reduced to 0.16mbps is probably because you've gone over the 20gig per day limit that's imposed on everyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 kamikade

hahahahahha explain me how it's possible to to go over 20gig a day with what speed?????
to download 20gb it woold took me about 1657:00:32h or if you mean 2gb so it took about
165:42:03h so to download 2gb it took not full 7 days.......... and so its imposible. so becouse it's nova's problem so whey supousto fix it not me
