    Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a fairly high-end netbook (i.e. plenty of processing power) for a budget of 600-650 euro.

I really need to stick to the netbook due to the nature of the work.

    Thanks,
    M

There is no such thing as a "high-end netbook", they're limited by definition 10.1" or 11.6" display, Intel Atom or AMD Fusion processor and 1 GB RAM (4 GB for 11.6" netbooks). If you mean a subnotebook, that's a different matter, but really "high end" you will not get with your budget.

PC Specialist's 11.6" Inferno might be an attractive choice (and it comes with a pretty good graphics card, GT 650M), but in a rather basic configuration (Core i3 3110m, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD) it already costs £534/€666. If you want a bit more "high-end" (e.g. a quad Core i7 3630 QM, 8 GB RAM and a 120 GB Intel SSD), you're looking at £697/€871. (If you already have an operating system, you can order w/o Windows and save ~€100)

    No "high-end" for 650 yoyos. ;)

And "plenty of processing power" isn't exactly the strength of Ultrabooks, they come with ULV processors, designed for better battery life, sacrificing performance. Even equipped with a dual Core i7 ULV processor, they don't fare much better than a regular Core i5 notebook (which you get for less than €500) in CPU benchmarks (never mind a quad-core beast) and yet you'll have to pay well in excess of 1,000 yoyos to get such an Ultrabook.

You may find some low spec Ultrabooks with a hybrid drive within you budget, but certainly nothing high-end with a SSD.
