Authorised dealer discount

Hi guys.

Ill be buying a high end watch in the next month or so, im still deciding between a Breitling Colt 44 or an Omega semaster 300 M.

I'm in Dublin, so the shops I will be looking in would be Weir and Sons and Paul Sheeran jewellers, my question is what kind of discount do you think I might be able to achieve from these dealers?, would maybe 20% discount be reasonable for me to ask for?, especially in the middle off a very deep recession.

Another question , like I said I have been looking at the 300M , which last time I saw in Weir and sons for 1800 euro, but it wouldn't be my favorite choice, so are there any other Omegas that I could get for maybe under 2400 euro including a discount,if there isn't ill probably just stick to getting the Breitling.I love the planet ocean , im not sure of the price , any chance of getting them down to 2500, or is that way to unrealistic?

I bought my Brietling Navitimer in the UK a couple of weeks ago and got a discount of around 15% in Watches of Switzerland.

Sorry no experience of shops in Dublin but from some posts on here it would appear that Wiers in particular can be pretty stingy with discounts.

If you travel through Heathrow, you can purchase VAT free apparently.thats a considerable discount but you'd also have to factor in the prevailing exchange rate.

If you look at the Uk forums, discounts of 20% seem the norm - however as there's so little competition in Ireland, I believe 10% is more realistic here.

Also, Paul Sheeran no longer sell Omega, so you'll have even less choice

As mentioned you can get discounts at airports - WoS in Heathrow offering 17% off evertything as far as i know

not sure of RRP's but unlikely to get a PO for €2500 in Ireland - you may need to look at the grey market for those discounts

I contacted Sheerans before I bought my TH Link and they were only offering about 5% off RRP. Fields gave me just over 10% but that was at a serious push.
Hartmanns in Galway was also only offering about 5%

5-10 percent for a Tag is a really poor discount IMO, especially as so many places sell them - Fields will give 10% just for signing up to their newsletter type thingy so really surprised to hear that's all you could get.......

I called around a lot of the jewellers in Dublin and Galway and this was the best discount I could get on this watch...even online without going to the US it was the cheapest I could get it
Since I bought it the price has increased aswell

They were really tight on the discount...even to get an extra 0.25% again they refused
