Third World charitable donations question

Hi. I am a PAYE worker and contribute to a Staff Third World Fund out of my wages. My wife is self employed. We are jointly assessed for tax every year.
The administrators have now come asking me to help them claim tax relief on the annual donations, as it is over €250
I don't think I can do this as my wife is self employed, and we are jointly assessed, but I am not 100% sure.

Would it be possible to NOT have these charitable donations considered for the self assessment at the end of the year, and to sign the form allowing the charity to receive the tax relief instead ?

Just a thought. It may not be possible.

If you are the assessable person then it needs to go on your Form 11.

Thanks for the response. My wife is the assessed person as she is self employed. I contribute to the charity from my monthly salary
