I've just bought a broken 16gb ipod touch, ie the screen is cracked and the backlight won't come on. To repair it I'm going to need a digitizer and lcd display. Is there a difference between the 2nd generation and third generation for these parts?, in fact I'm not sure whether this is 3g, I can't tell the difference, it looks like its 2gen but the fellow I bought it off says its 3rd. Any way of knowing? (it has bluetooth btw) Cheers:confused:

Its too faded to read, I can make out 2008 though. I've been googling this and the best I can come up with is the processor is faster in the 3rd gen. Apart from the code on the back do you know of any other differences? Does it have any extra features for instance?
    Thanks for the reply

They are probably nearly identical on the outside. Is the ipod turning on? if it is connect it to iTunes or tinyumbrella to check what it is
