Hi, 2002 Sprinter 313 van that has no power at all,
Have been told that its a sensor that goes on them and its located behind the headlamps.
    Anyone know more on this

    Thanks

MAF sensor most likely. May or may not fix your problem. It's worth a 20 quid diagnostics test before you splash out 120 quid on a new one. It not the only sensor that can cause power problems. Could be fuel filter, injectors or something like that too.

It is ten years old. I would consider turbo failure and mechanical problems like that to be more reliability issues. Something that leaves you stranded at the side of the road somewhere.

You don't know whats wrong yet. Might only need a new fuel filter or it could be just be in limp mode. This protects the expensive parts of the engine until you get a new sensor.

Oh right ,get it tested then first by a mercedes mechanic or tell yer man to fix it, get a receipt and you'll include the cost of fixing it if that's it sorted. A cracked manifold or if injectors or turbo are knackered it will cost you alot of money. Probably only a sensor considering it's just through the DOE but you never know. If he refuses walk away, plenty of fish in the sea.

Buying a van can be a bit of a minefield, best to take your time. When you drive if it has loads of power up to about 2200rpm an then it dies like someone hit a switch that's the limp mode kicking in and you can be reasonably sure it is a sensor. The idle should be stable and little or no exhaust smoke.
