hi, i had an epileptic fit 2 weeks ago and hurt my 4 bottom teeth (fell against bathroom sink), they became loose but i had that before and though they will get stronger in a couple of days... couple of days after gum swell up, lasted 4 days and when the swelling was gone my gum went low and exposed 2 teeth so that they hurt in cold weather now too. teeth are still loose. i went to my dentist (registered on the day as i never went to a dentist in Sligo before), he told me i have to brush them and that's all, I have gum disease and i can only slow it down but never get rid of it. this thread is a bit old and i would like to know is there any newer solutions/options available? i'm only 23 and i'm going to need my teeth for another while, please help!

Mods delete this if not allowed to give advice.

My dentist recommended kin mouthwash that you buy in a chemist for around 10 euro. It helps to prevent gum disease.:)

Kin and Corsydol mouthwash contain a chemical that help with gum disease, however its not really good to take long term (stains teeth, alters taste, bacteria become resistant to it etc...). The treatment for gum problems is meticulous mechanical cleaning of the teeth with a brush and floss or interdental brushes. If you have tartar above or under the gums your dentist will need to remove it first so you can clean effectivly.

So basically your dentist is correct, you need to clean better, there is not magic bullet or tablet that makes it go away, only the daily routine of good oral hygiene. Bummer but true.

I am using mouthwash and extensively cleaning my teeth since the doc told me to, hygienist appointment on Thursday. I understand that the infection is already in my gums and cannot be treated fully, all I can do is not to let it go worse? There is no magic about this, but will my gum recover and go back to normal or do I need a dental surgery to 'pull' it back up? Dentist said my to front teeth are on 'red alert', it hurst when i drink etc, how do I go about this?
