Asking on behalf of a friend who can't get head around how she can pass first year, bear in mind this is the first year they are doing christmas exams so course structure has changed slightly, most usual routes (rep, tutor etc) have not proved useful so far.

    Thanks in advance

    Grem

Anywhere to get a breakdown of a breakdown of marking schemes - first year they are doing christmas exams and since there's no chemistry next semester it seems that passing it may be very difficult if her maths are right. Searched the forum and can't see anything about it.

Your rep and tutor dont set the papers. A quite word with the lecturers would go along way. If its the first year of an exam, they are obliged to offer information about exam structure, marking etc etc.

Is there other people in the class who have this problem?

Being able to speak with your lecturers is one of the most important things you will learn, especially when you get to 3rd and 4th year and start to do supervised projects. just tell her the lecturer is there to help and its not in their interest to bite anyones head off.

Don't forget if she has been doing well on the continuous assessment or the lab work she might find it a lot easier to pass. That sort of work always helps out.
