I need to buy a new car, I would be greatful for any suggestions...my main criteria are:

    No more than 8,000 euro
Diesel...I need a car thats fuel efficient
    No older than 2006
    Reasonably low tax

I am not big into cars so im not too sure what is the best car to go for, I was thinking of something like an opel astra, or puegot 307? Opinions appreciated

My opinion would be, don't buy a 307.

Try a ford focus 1.6 tdci. You would get a 08 one for that money easily and tax is 225 I think. Very economical with cheap tax and good engine

Im also looking for the same criteria; diesel, low tax, good fuel efficiency & around 2007/08 in around the e8k to e8.5k price range. The list of cars i ve narrowed things down to include the ford focus, opel astra, vw golf (leaning towards this but things may change). Also lookin at the toyota avensis but these are priced a little bit over the price range.

    Audi A4 TDI

I've had two, then foolishly went over to Merc.

The Audi ticks all the required boxes.

lol .........another who does'nt have a clue!

look, buy anything but a 1.6tdci focus ......the worst diesel engine ford ever used in one of their cars....injectors issues, turbo issues, dmf issues, its will ruin your motoring life.........

my choice would be a good audi A4 tdi.
