We got €180/tonne in Sept. Agent came to see what we had and we had almost 10 tonnes. Best quote over the phone was either €160 or €165 I don't remember which. The agent was a local guy. It was one of the Limerick merchants that took it I don't remember which one as I didn't deal direct with them.

Dont want to get banned so all I can say is if selling scrap, make sure you know the weight first.

They got closed down about 3 weeks back, not sure who or what was the reason. Rumor has it that they may have been bought out.

How can you be sure they won't take the piss with the weight in the lorry?

They weighed in and out on local Glanbia branch weighbridge for us.

If drawing into them yourself weigh yourself at local co op/ merchant and get a weight docket printed out. You may if you wish keep this to your self until they tell you what it weighed on their scales. If it tallies no harm done.

Knackers collected 3 copper cylinders round here Friday night. Didn't have to ring them or anything. Called to three vacant houses let themselves in and took the cylinders. Great service

Delt with these 12 months ago. Had no problems. Weighed truck before in a dairygold weigh bridge, and again after loading scrap steel. I had stainless to go aswell, and they reweighed after loading the stainless to the load. Got receipt, and was paid cash the following day.

Stainless in particular, should attract a big premium !

I sold 250kgs stainless last month €225. You can get €900 per ton, without much problem.
