    Exactly the same way in sports.
    The Americans will always whine the loudest that foreign competitors use performance enhancing substances.
    They just don't get caught because they own most events and make sure their athletes don't get caught or the samples get switched. The only reason Ben Johnson was caught is because he wasn't a US competitor, you can be sure Carl Lewis was doped to the eyeballs.
    You can be sure US manufacturers add another 10 mpg on their figures at the very least.
