Sold last wk 650 @ 1260, 620 @1200, 580@1140 all in lots of threes and fours. they were around 26months all they got was grass

as for pollies yest....lost 200 a head due to buying at peak prices last march. that lesson was learned the hard way. but said cut my losses as would not be worth the cost of wintering them

I presume anybody buyimg these are feeding on and killing in the spring how much to finish, what weight will they kill out at and what do you think they will make and how much of a margin

Also somebody buying contenintal stores 400kgs again how much, when will they finish and at what weight and costs and margin.

I am intrested as I do not go near them I often wonder if I am right or wrong

    Add €3 a day onto them costs (feed/dose/transport) + mortality/labour(:D)/diesel/interest/building cost now probably near €4 a day.

So a 600kg/charlois landed in the yard would cost about 1210 euro's so. If you fed him for 100 days gaining 1.1/kg/day costing 3.5 euro/day. Then allow 100 euro for mortality/dosing /diesel/intrest/machinery costs etc. Transport to factory 20 euro's if traveling a distance and 12 slaughter fees if they would insure him. This leaves him costing you 1692 at slaughter. Allowing yourself 100 euro margin, he is weighing 710 kgs killout 55% he be 390 DW so you would need him to make 1792 in the factory so a price of 4.6 euro/kg at R+ this equate to a base of 4.48.

Are my figures right or am I way off. maybe he gain 1.5 kgs/day or will he killout over 60%. If I am right there is a chance that he will die in debt.
