Hi all,I have a fair bit of skirting to paint upstairs in our house which has never been painted and will need a good few coats (3-4). I have been researching and looking for a bit of advice when it comes to this task. Basically I don't believe it will be possilble to do a decent job without removing the carpet from the skirting first.... as I am bound to get fluff etc caught on the brushes and paint on the carpet. Anyone have any advice on this - I'm fairly used to painting this kind of thing but not generally with carpet.ThanksMC

Long sheet of cardboard strips and slide it in under ths skirting board and then press it down,so that it seperates the carpet and the skirting board. So simple to do.

Go into a paint suppliers and ask for a painters spatula used for painting skirtings. Its an 18 inch strip of thin aluminium with a handle that you can slide under the skirt.

Or go along the top of the carpet with masking tape!

10 euro for that strip in Woodies.Nothing an A3 sheet of cardboard for 99 cents (cut it into 5 strips) and a roll of masking tape for 2 euro cant sort out in a jiffy. It will do the exact same job too.
