    Hi all,

I've installed 12.10 on my old Dell Vostro 1520 but it doesn't recognise the wireless card.

I'm a bit stuck as to what to do about it, anyone got any advice?

    Thanks
    Joe

After some searching online and opening the back of the laptop I think the card is an Intel Wifi Link 5300

Run lsmod in a terminal and you'll know for sure. Ubuntu shouldn't have problems with Intel Wi-Fi cards though.

    EDIT: Run lspci, my mistake.

if you have an ethernet cable and can connect wired to the internet for a few minutes do this, then press the windows button and start typing "software sources" open it, and select "additional drivers" tab, it'll download any missing wireless or graphics driver
