Is it just my S3 or is project butter actually slowing some peoples phones down?

Now when I for example click on phone, there is a 3 second delay before it opens properly, same with contacts, frequently programs are on a "go slow".

    Is anyone else experiencing this.

Sure....its all very nice having that buttery scrolling between home screens etc but this is quite disappointing :(

See, that's Touchwiz, Samsung's bastardisation of Android. I'm running the SuperNexus Jelly Bean Rom on my S3, it's a port of vanilla Android from the Nexus and its lightning quick, zero lag.

Did you guys update straight from ICS via KIES or OTA?

It's been recommended to do a factory reset after you upgrade - makes a big difference.
Make sure you backup your data before you try this option.

Are you using TouchWiz? Have you done a factory reset after the upgrade? If not try using a different launcher app, Nova Launcher Prime transformed the speed of my SGS II as TouchWiz was extremely slow on it and try factory reset to clear your phone down.

Touchwiz is pretty crappy imo, and makes android worse.

Well at least its good to hear that I am not alone!

Sorry to sound a bit dumb on the issue but does a factory reset wipe the phone of all infer (contacts, photos etc) or does it just reset settings.

Also, what is the best way to back up? I am used to iPhone you see!

    I have a mac btw!

Highly doubt its "project butter" slowing your phone down, my Galaxy Nexus was a totally different phone when i received JB updates, so much smoother and thats with allot less processor and Ram spec than the S3. As droffodx says my moneys on Touchwhiz.

I have the galaxy nexus and while it is faster with JB there is still some lag from time to time. It just comes with the territory when using Android due to the way it handles UI rendring.
The UI rendering happens on the main cpu thread and other processes on that thread can affect that.
This is different to the way IOS handles UI rendering were UI rendering happens in a separate thread. This is why the iphone always looks faster unfortunately.
Until Google fix this it will always be a problem.
